And Another "Newbie"

Hi Everyone!

I just had my WLS on Friday - never thought that I'd say the words "jello" and "enjoy" in the same sentence till today! lol

I also have a question as I'm not sure if this also has to do with age -- did anyone else have to have 2 shots a day (in the tummy) for the first 2 weeks?  The nurse said it's to prevent blood clots.

Many thanks for having me - I've been reading in here for a while and it really seems everyone is helpful & nice.  Looking forward to "jumping" in now that the 'ice" has been broken...

Yes ....I did every day. It is the best place to put it, as was explained to me. The nurse told me I would be having them and to not let them put the shot anyplace else but the belly.
Apparently it does it's job best there. My surgery was 1/23/09 Lola

Hi there Libby!  Welcome to our little family.  If you've been reading us for a while, you know that I'm a former KY gal and I love seeing my friends from the "Bluegrass State".  Everyone here is available for help, such nice people.  So, welcome to the loser's bench.  I didn't have to have the shots, so can't help you there.

Pretty much the norm.  That was the only thing I did not like about the surgery.  Small price to pay.

yes I had to give my self 2 shots each day before surgery and then they injected me in the hospital but once I was home I did not have to do anything.  Except try to get those shakes down...

My surgery was last Wed and I came home Friday.   I feeling fine but still having a hard time trying to get all the protein in and have resigned myself I may not be able to ...It takes so dare long.    I am going to see how I feel today and go to the pool...   I got my waterproof bandages and since I work a desk job I am going to ask the doctor to give me clearance for Weds...

Well he told me I had no restrictions...and i feel great...went shopping yesterday, made my bed, did dishes.. made dinner..   nothing differeent except those shakes.

Good Luck

Welcome Libby.  Hope you enjoy it here on the OFF board. Great group of people here.

I did have 2 shots in the hospital but didn't have to have them at home. Good Luck on your journey.

Libby, welcome to OFF, the best place on OH.

I had to have the shots while I was in the hospital too. I think pretty much it is the norm like George said. I do know that each and every doctor is different. If you ask 10 doctors the same question you would probably get at least 7 different answers.

Good luck on the new and exciting life you are beginning and make sure you hang on since it is quite a ride. Welcome to the losers bench, there is always room for one more.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.
